It is hard to believe in today's world but the Flintstones were used in ads for beer and cigarettes. That's right, those fine folks from the town of Bedrock were lighting up and shilling for Winston. In fact, Winston Cigarettes was the sponsor for The Flintstones in their first season (1960.) Aside from everything that is wrong with smoking, my favorite part of this commercial is the fact that Fred and Barney hide behind the house so that they do not have to see their wives doing the yard work.
