One Day Left
Well with one day left the poll is sitting in a 3 way tie after receiving pretty much the response I was expecting. :) Hopefully someone will break the tie before the end of the day.

Updates
Not much in the way of updates, but I have moved the Poll up a little higher and relocated the Archives to the bottom of the page. Having the Archive at the bottom just seems a little more appropriate to me.
Flintstones Ad for Winston Cigarettes
It is hard to believe in today's world but the Flintstones were used in ads for beer and cigarettes. That's right, those fine folks from the town of Bedrock were lighting up and shilling for Winston. In fact, Winston Cigarettes was the sponsor for The Flintstones in their first season (1960.) Aside from everything that is wrong with smoking, my favorite part of this commercial is the fact that Fred and Barney hide behind the house so that they do not have to see their wives doing the yard work. This part strangely mirrors my own life. If you want additional information about the beer commercial for Busch beer, got to this site.

The Real Space Ghost
Since I have not posted a new sketch in a few days and we are waiting for the poll to close before posting the next one, I have posted a YouTube video of an actual Space Ghost episode from the 60's. This episode is called Space Ghost in The Heat Thing. I chose Space Ghost as he has been the subject for a few of our sketches so far. Enjoy.

Our First HB Town poll!!
Maybe our last as well, who knows. Either way I have put up a poll under the HB Burbs to see which of my character sketches everyone would like to see next. The character with the most votes will be the next posted. Pretty simple premise but I like to keep it that way for my own benefit.

More Space Ghost!!
This next Space Ghost sketch is from the blog of Eric Canete. Eric was nice enough to let me post it here. This started as one of his 90 minute sketches but apparently progressed to about 3.5 hours. It is great that he included the kids and Blip in the sketch as well as what I consider to be a classic Space Ghost pose!! Since Eric was nice enough to let me post his drawing, he has become the newest member of HB Town, moving onto Mighty Mightor Lane!! Eric can also be found on his blog where he is always posting new art.

Yogi Bear
This wacky Yogi Bear sketch was done by our newest resident to HB Town, Outrageous Andy B. Andy is a Canadian artist who has worked for a number of different companies and has also self published his own comic book "Dead End 56." His online comic strip "Raising Hell" can be found at Transmission X. Andy himself can be found at his website. He has just moved onto Speed Buggy Drive with good friend "Masterful" Mike Cho. Andy in reality is just short of being a cartoon and also seems to have a thing for Roller Derby.

Town Hall
This link takes you to a great site with a "tour" of the Hanna-Barbera studios that opened in March of 1963. It includes pictures and actual maps of the studio.
New to the HB Burbs
I have added a new link to the HB Burbs for Spectropop's Yogi Bear's Nuggets. This is a listing of the 45's put out by Hanna-Barbera records between 65' and 66' Some of the records are releases from the cartoons, but most are a legitimate attempt by HB to move into the music industry.
Edit 08/21/07 11:30 - Another link has just been added to the HB Burbs for Dan-Dare.org's Hanna Barbera Cartoon page. This link contains a few pictures but is most notable for having included mp3s of some of the show's theme songs.

Space Ghost!!!
This is another sketch from the Toth Jam on the Image Forums. This sketch was done by Ryan Cody. According to Ryan he did this sketch in about 30 minutes. It's a great pose and I really like how Ryan's style comes through. Ryan can be found at his blog or his new residence on Jabberjaw Ave.
Frankenstein Jr. Start to Finish
These 3 pics show some of Shawn's progression through his next Frankenstein Jr. sketch. Personally I am a huge fan of seeing a sketch from start to finish. It never ceases to amaze me how someone can do something so amazing with a pencil while I can only print with the same pencil.

Also from the Toth Jam...
comes this sketch of Blip by Robbi Rodriguez. Being a big Space Ghost fan I love this sketch!! Robbi is the artist on such comic books as Hero Camp, Maintenance (which has been optioned by Hollywood) and Tek Jansen among others. Robbi is easily found at his website. Here in HB Town Robbi has taken up residence just down from Shawn Crystal on Mighty Mightor Lane. Thanks Robbi.

Frankenstein Jr.
Since Shawn Crystal has graciously allowed me to post some of his sketches from the previously mentioned Toth Jam, here are two of Shawn's first sketches of Frankenstein Jr. More Frankenstein Jr to follow from Shaun as well as a couple sketches of characters from the Herculoids!!! Thanks Shawn!
Toth HB Characters
Over on the B. Clay Moore boards at Image Comics, there is a Sketch Jam started by Shawn Crystal ( aka Inkpulp) featuring HB characters that were designed by Alex Toth. Check it out as there is some serious talent on display.
For his efforts in both starting the thread and keeping it alive until others began to take part, Shawn is our newest resident of HB Town. Shawn has taken up residence on Mighty Mightor Lane on the south side of town.

Fred and Barney
Our newest resident of HB Town is Mike Cho, a Canadian artist who lives just down from Scott Chantler on Speedbuggy Drive. Mike drew Fred and Barney as well as a couple of the houses from HB's Bedrock suburb for me at the Toronto Comicon earlier this year. Mike can also be found here at his website.

Parts of Town
Here at HB Town you may have noticed the 2 sections, "Residents of HB Town" and "The HB Burbs."
"Residents of HB Town" are links (whenever possible) to the artists responsible for my sketches. Scott Chantler is currently our only resident but I expect HB Town to grow steadily.
"The HB Burbs" are links to other Hanna-Barbera sites that I have found in my many, many, sometimes disturbing travels around the web. My personal favorite at the moment is the "Hanna-Barbera Fashion Database" a sarcastic look at the outfits (or lack there of) worn by some of the characters.
That's it for now.

Welcome to Town. Hope you enjoy your stay.
Welcome to Hanna-Barbera Town. HB Town is about showcasing my new Hanna-Barbera sketch book. To date I only have 3 sketches but I will be expanding upon that shortly. I will start posting my sketches once I have accumulated a few more but for now I will just post this one that has already been displayed at Sketches from an Unknown Restaurant.
Dick Dastardly and Muttley is by Scott Chantler, a fantastic comic book artist who is currently working on Hawaiian Dick for Image Comics. The first issue of HD will be released in Nov. Scott has also written and drawn his own book, Northwest Passage and done the art for several other books including the first issue of Tec Jansen. He can be found on his website.
New posts will follow shortly.
